Yoda One For Me!

Yoda One For Me!
Yoda one for me is what we said to each glass as we painstakingly and lovingly chose between a flute, a martini, and snifter for etching.

“Invention, my dear friends, is 93% perspiration, 6% electricity, 4% evaporation, and 2% butterscotch ripple.”

Willy Wonka

It was a cool and cloudy fall Sunday at Barrel Culture in Durham as GeekGirlBrunchRDU reunited for our November social. Outside Thang’s Wangs and Waffles warmed up their food truck as we eagerly prepared mentally, emotionally, and physically to etch all the glass. Would there be stencils? What type of glasses could we choose from?

Alexandra eased all our fears after telling us that her background was in teaching art to 5 year old children. Alright, Alright, Alright! So we began!

Invention of our beautiful etched glass took time. Much of the time involved stickers, tape, cutting, painting, asking for second opinions and wondering where Alexandra had drifted off to and if she could answer all our questions. Fortunately, we also easily filled the time with conversation, beer, waffles, and chicken! Keeping trend with the creativity and adventure, one Geek Girl ordered a fruity pebbles waffle. Brunchettes also enjoyed some sweet Thai chili wings and peach skillet on tap. An impromptu belly dancing class also broke out during our time together. You must be prepared for anything when you attend a Geek Girl Brunch event. In the end, we all ended up with filled bellies, warm hearts, and two customized glasses that we could gift or take home to appreciate.

Wondering what this adventure looked like? Here are some pictures of brunchettes enjoying and etching!

But Wait, There’s More!

You’ve seen our facebook page is so active, so what else do we do? Harry Potter Yoga and Star Wars Trivia to start, and just yesterday some Geek Girls met up for an Outlander themed sword fighting class. Pics or it didn’t happen, you say? Here is the proof!

We really are that cool!

Do you geek? Join us in December at Sugar Magnolia Cafe for our Alice in Wonderland traditional afternoon tea by signing up on our chapter page.
