GGB Lubbock: Will You Be My Galentine?

GGB Lubbock: Will You Be My Galentine?

galentineThe officers of Geek Girl Brunch Lubbock had a get-together to discuss the coming year’s events and thought, “Hey, what better way to kick off the year than with a Valentine swap?” I know, you’re thinking to yourself that Valentine’s Day is meant to be shared between lovers, a day filled with flowers and candy and mushy-gushy romance, but I’m here to tell you: love is for everyone – significant others, friends, and family! Thus the Lubbock chapter held a Galentine Valentine Swap.

Our event was held at the quaintest little café and bakery, Sugarbakers. When the officersgalentine arrived for set-up, the tables had been set-up with adorable Valentine centerpieces and “reserved” signs – always good for making a group feel special! The officers then went a little crazy and added all things pink and sparkly – heart-shaped doilies, adorable pom-pom Valentine sprites crafted lovingly by Officer Alex, wonderfully aromatic bath bombs provided by Officer Sam, 3D puffy stickers, and more!

As our Brunchettes began to trickle in, orders were being placed at the galentinecounter – beneath which, desserts like the most beautiful Valentine cookies and various pies and flavored-cheesecakes were on display. Lunches such as Cranberry Pecan Chicken Salad and a Hawaiian Ham and Pineapple sandwich were delivered to the table, each coming with a side of fruit or green salad, veggies, and a muffin. Most ladies started with a dessert’etizer of huge and delicious chocolate-covered strawberries with varying decorations from white chocolate drizzle to pink heart-shaped sprinkles.
galentineEach Brunchette was asked to bring a Valentine to swap with another Galentine and numbers were drawn for picking from the glorious packages! Gifts ranged from a movie night bucket with popcorn and candy to a Pokemon blanket to handmade Valentine cards and stationery. Once every lady had made her choice, we had some extra swag to give away including a heart-shaped chalkboard, a truth-telling sign boasting “Girls Rule”, and a few extra bath bombs.

2017 was definitely started off with a bang and the officers of GGB LBK are excited for the months to come, bringing a Pirate-themed brunch, a self-care brunch, and many opportunities for local ladies to come together to share their love of all things geeky!
