Gilmore Girl Love
January 2019 was dedicated to a fandom close to all of our hearts, The Gilmore Girls. “Coffee please!” This has been a highly requested theme suggested by our Brunchettes, and we were so happy to deliver.
Keeping with the theme, brunch was held at the gorgeous Peacock Diner (as a nod to Luke’s) located in the Delmar Loop of STL and our girls got to sample some of the amazing things that STL has to offer. This 24 hour diner is located in a prime spot for concert goers and tourists and is a fan favorite in this area, bringing together the old and new, as it specializes in breakfast and brunch fare, a full bar, old school games like skee-ball, a jukebox playing hits from all decades, as well as video games on a PS4.
Many of us took advantage of the spiked malts (Human Sacrifice was by far a favorite with its vanilla and chocolate ice cream, Kahlua, Patron and just a hint of cayenne pepper), and the food was phenomenal. The Loop Slinger and burgers were also popular items with everyone in attendance.
Along with discussing our favorite Gilmore Girls episodes and characters (including which of Rory’s leading men were our favorites), and debating the newly released “A Year in the Life” series from 2018, we all took advantage of a Gilmore Girls inspired crossword puzzle thanks to our amazing GGB STL Officer- Tiffany.
We were able to raffle out a lot of swag this month, thanks to our generous donors, to include, a hand knitted hat inspired by the golf cap worn by Rory wore that was knit by our very own talented brunchette Brittney, soup bowl holders thanks to our amazing brunchette Wendy, free book coupons courtesy of one of our favorite book store- Afterwords Books, a few nerdy T-shirts from Threadless, and a Book Beau. Book Beau is an American based company that creates adorable covers for books to keep them protected, we are absolutely obsessed with these handy covers and are so thankful for the donation.
We were also so excited to announce the winner of our recent Instagram Giveaway as a thank you for the amazing 2018 we had, our very own Wendy received some absolutely amazing gifts including, a Book Beau, a T-shirt from Threadless, handcrafted GGBSTL coasters, cosmetics from Besame, pins from Fandom Flair, nerdy stickers, free book coupons from Afterwords, a plethora of comic swag from Star Clipper, nail wraps from Espionage and tinted chapstick from Shiro Cosmetics.
Nothing beats spending time geeking out over all of our nerdy favorites with amazing nerdy women! Sticking with tradition, our February brunch will be our Galentine’s Day Celebration hosted by the amazing St. Louis Pieces Boardgame Bar and Cafe!
