This month, we celebrated the diversity of Mythology at our August brunch. It was held at Kumo Japanese Seafood Buffet in Parma, OH. We had never done a buffet before, and a lot of our members seemed to enjoy the variety of food that was there. In fact, it may have been overwhelming! Their service and food were excellent. And, they gave us a private room to use for our event.
We raffled off various books on mythology. Some mythological themes were: Oceanic, Persian, African, Egyptian, Greek, South American, and Native American.
Some Unofficial Events that took place during August were:
A Zoo Clue Brews Team was created to participate in a local scavenger hunt at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. It was to have been held on August 29th, but due to rain storms and thunder that day, they pushed the event back to September 5th. Geek Girl Brunch Cleveland has 2 teams participating. Team One is Balls to the Walls Narwals: Cassie S., Alana H., Erin M., and Lindsey T. Team Two is Team Rocket: Darlene A., Chelley S., Cassandra W., and Kayla S.
Game Night was held after brunch this month. They played played Ticket to Ride and Deadpool Vs. The World. And, they had delicious cheesecake. Next month, they will be featuring a Steampunk Game Night, with member Emily’s Steampunk group.
August’s Book Club theme was “Movie Night” (books made into movies). The group voted and the winner was The Darkest Minds. They went to the Cinemark in Valley View to watch it, and went to Your’s Truly to grab a bite to eat and discuss it. Next month’s theme is Dystopian novels. There is currently a poll to see what book to read for that theme.
There was no movie outing for August. However, there is an active poll for members to choose September’s outing.
Until next month!
