Galentine’s Day in St. Louis

Galentine’s Day in St. Louis

Any fan of Parks & Recreation (my three year old son included) knows what Galentine’s Day is. For those that don’t, it’s a celebration that takes place the day before Valentine’s Day to celebrate the lovely ladies you have in your life!

For our February event, the ladies of the St. Louis metro chapter decided to celebrate all the wonderful friends we have made over the past year and a half with our own Galentine’s Day celebration! After RSVP’ing, each brunchette was assigned a “secret galentine” and was told to purchase or make a present to celebrate their galentine’s favorite fandoms!
The gift exchange was a huge hit! Presents ranged from purchased to hand-painted to sewn to DIY’ed! Doctor Who cookie jars, X-Files mini pops, Star Trek key holders, Hobbit slippers, Dobby sock collectors, and even a tribute to Pawnee! It was a fun time watching each lady open their present to “ooh” and “aaah”! Twenty brunchettes were able to join in on the gift exchange and every present was a hit!

The event was held at a new St. Louis restaurant called Pieces, a board game extravaganza! With over 500 board games to choose from, this place quickly became a favorite. Some ladies settled down to a relaxing game of Jenga, others chose a fierce game of Exploding Kittens, and a few buckled down for an intense game of Simon’s Cat! The owner of the restaurant was so excited to host our group that she even decorated our tables for us! It was great to be able to hang in a business run by a nerdy lady! For a few weeks after the event, many of our brunchettes returned to the restaurant with husbands, boyfriends, and friends to try out new games.
Our March event is going to be our first family event as we flood the local movie theater to watch Beauty & the Beast! We are so excited!
