Origin Story: The beginnings of my geekiness/nerdiness started with my love of literature and history. I grew up in a small town with not much to do and was homeschooled most of my childhood. While I was completing a 3rd grade history lesson I found my love for the ancient world, especially Egypt. I was so obsessed that I taught myself hieroglyphics and could fluently read and write them. Lack of practice and obvious impracticality in normal daily life has since caused me to forget this skill. However, somewhere I do still have copies of the essays I wrote my charter school teacher in hieroglyphics. Around the same time, I started reading Tolkien and C.S Lewis. This rocketed me into my love for fantasy. I grew up on 40 acres so let’s just say there were a lot of quests completed in my younger days. Then I discovered anime, manga and video games and my geekdom was solidified. I was even able to convince my parents and charter school that DDR was a great home school P.E activity. Yes, I got to play DDR every day for school!! My first anime obsessions were Dragon Ball Z and Rurouni Kenshin and my first video game completed was Kingdom Hearts. I have since continued down the rabbit hole and have loved every second of it! Like our amazing GGB president, I am also hoping to pass the geek gene to my son. He is named Leon, after Leon S. Kennedy from Resident Evil, so I feel like it is a good start.
Geeky Loves: RWBY, Yona of the Dawn, Almost everything Studio Ghibli, Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy Games, Resident Evil, Persona, Dragon Age, Halo, Devil May Cry, Assassin’s Creed, Mass Effect, Left for Dead, Tolkien, Jane Austin, Harry Potter, Shakespeare, The Mummy, anything MCU (especially Deadpool, Ironman, Spiderman and Jessica Jones), Dr. Who (though like officer Angela mostly for Tennant), Firefly, Outlander (guilty pleasure), Game of Thrones, American Pickers, Curse of Oak Island, Hunting Hitler, any show Egypt related, Expedition Unknown, House Hunters International, Star Wars, Mad Max, Willow, Some Like It Hot and almost everything Disney. I also like to play DND and magic along with other tabletop games.
Geek Obsession:Â RWBY and I am also getting pretty obsessed with Persona 5.
Brunch Staple: I try and change it up, but bacon is best!

Origin Story: I am a geek down to my DNA. Thanks to my mom, who enabled and encouraged me to watch the Classic Disney movies and Star Wars with her and read to me when I was little…all the way thru to picking out books from the Science Fiction Book Club to share as a family when I was about 10. As a kid I could quote Star Wars like other kids chanted the alphabet. The flip side is from Dad, who introduced my sisters and me to Saturday morning cartoons (He-Man, She-Ra, GI Joe, Loony Toons) and Star Trek TNG was our after dinner family TV time. Oh and the Original Series Star Trek Movies and Indiana Jones, whenever they were on my sisters and I would stay up late to watch them with him. Dad also started my interest in sky watching and astronomy as well as geology. He would pack up the family in warm blankets at night to drive out into the desert and watch meteor showers and comets. One solar eclipse he got out his welding hood and all his extra dark lenses so all the neighborhood kids could safely look at the sun! We would go camping and hunt for different rocks and crystals and geodes. Both always encouraged me to read and learn new things and it stuck.
Geeky Loves: Star Wars, Star Trek, Disney, Dr. Who, Marvel Movies, Wonder Woman, RWBY, WITCH, Sci/Fi, Fantasy, Adventure, Board Games, Kitchen Chemistry, Astronomy, Geology, Shakespeare, Musicals, Anime (Sailor Moon is my fav. but so many, many great others!) Books! Mercedes Lackey, Janet Evanovitch, Terry Brooks, Raymond E Feist, Tolkien, Diane Duane, Kristen Britain…. I have learned to love video games as that is what happens when you marry a gamer. #gamerwife #Iruntheguidebook!
Geek Obsession: Star Wars, Sailor Moon, Valdemar
Brunch Staple: Coffee, Bacon, Cheesecake

Origin Story: I don’t know where my geek roots started but I seem to have come by it honestly. My uncle and father were huge Sci-Fi fans and would tell me about all of the great books/movies they loved. It wasn’t until much much later that I tried them out for myself. For me, it started with the stories between characters with shows like Sailor Moon, Highlander, BTVS, and Sliders. Eventually, my love of stories translated into a massive love of books and poetry to the point of adding a major in college just so I could read! I am a sucker for a good love story and a good mystery. When the Gameboy came out, I found video games. Which has translated into a lifelong love of Nintendo. I have been playing Pokémon since they were introduced to the US and love watching the FF games. Meeting my husband introduced me to Dungeons and Dragons and boy was that a game changer! Love it! I happily read the handbooks just cause I can.
Geeky Loves: Pokemon, Harry Potter, Great British Bake Off, Master Chef, Chopped, Sailor Moon, Fruits Basket (Manga and both Animes), Ouran Host Club (anime is cute but Manga is better), Assassins Creed games, Bollywood, musicals, FFXIV, Vampire Knight, Hunger Games, Shakespeare, Jane Austen, Ender’s Game, Tom Hiddleston, Marvel/MCU, X-Men, Archie Comics, BTVS, Firefly, Fairy Tale, Cormoran Strike series, D&D…and so many more!
Geeky Obsession: Kyo Soma, Fred Weasley,
Brunch Staple: Good coffee and Eggs Benedict (a good Hollandaise is so hard to find ;))
