Geek Girl Brunch Gainesville at Warbler’s Ecocamp
Gainesville’s August Meetup
The original plan for the August meetup was to go to Gilchrest Blue Springs, a state park with a natural fresh water spring. Unfortunately, many others had this plan, and the park was full when we arrived.
Anaïs saved the day by securing us access to Warbler’s Ecocamp! Warbler’s is in the heart of springs country, adjacent to Lily and Poe Springs. It is 4 miles from historic downtown High Springs and 35 minutes from downtown Gainesville. Warbler’s is the start of the Gilchrist Blueway, a 55 mile paddling trail that carries paddlers from central Florida through three gentle rivers (the Santa Fe, Itchetucknee, and Suwannee) towards the Gulf of Mexico.
We were able to chill in the water, eat snacks, and catch up with each other’s lives. It really was for the best that we had to go with our plan B! We even made a new friend named Princess.
As summer comes to an end, we are glad that we can still enjoy the cool waters of North Central Florida. If you are interested in Warbler’s, contact warblersecocamp@gmail.com or visit their website.
