Portland’s Colorful Virtual Trolls Brunch

With so much stuff up in the air, the Portland chapter wanted to get in on the creative new way to brunch by throwing a Zoom virtual brunch. Our theme this month is Trolls/90s to celebrate the premier of Trolls World Tour. We asked ladies to create their own Troll looks and share them at brunch, as well as sent out links to download coloring pages.

While this is an unusual time, we still felt that it deserved an unusual brunch. Several of us Brunchettes got up and chatted about the movie, which we found super cute and with great music and then we talked about how everyone is dealing with having to shelter-in-place and stay in their homes.

Look at these cute looks two of our officers came up with. Shereen went full-on rainbow troll with hair she made out of tulle and Jackie went the Branch route with overalls and swirly hair. Love it! There’s so much room to interpret the Trolls, especially with all the new ones introduced in the new movie.

Most of us are taking care of ourselves and doing well with Quarantine, playing video games (hello Borderlands and Animal Crossing!), working on a blog, enjoying having no plans except brunch to see some familiar, smiling faces, or baking and Spring cleaning.

We hope to make these virtual brunches (and happy hours) a regular thing until we’re able to get back out to restaurants. We can’t wait to see our Geek Girls in person again, but until then, we’ll connect in cool, new ways. We’re thankful that we have so many ways to still get together and share our fandoms.
