Celebrating the Geek Gal-entines.
Things in Virginia have started warming up with the month of February. Like the Grinch, our hearts are growing too! The Newport News Chapter of Geek Girl Brunch put together a pot luck brunch and gal-entine swap for it’s February theme.
What is Gal-entines you ask? Character Leslie Knope made the phrase popular, describing it as ,”…only the best day of the year. My friends and I leave our husbands and boyfriends at home and we just kick it breakfast style. Ladies celebrating ladies. Like Lilith fair minus the angst.”
Everyone pitched in to make this a fun and special event! Craft Officer Arlene secured her complex’s swanky clubhouse for us, a comfortable, all amenities included site! It even had a pool table!
A pot luck style buffet was served, and a variety of cute gal-entines and goodies were exchanged. Ovaries before bro-varies! Bath bombs seemed to be an underlying theme. #selfcare
Wendy Harris, owner of Harris’ House of Henna and Body Art was a special guest at brunch. Wendy provided all natural henna tattoo designs for the ladies. Her designs do not dissapoint, & she was even able to incorporate some traditional geeky designs like the Star Trek, and Deathly Hallows symbols.
Officer Jenn A. donated a selfcare gift bag full of pampering goodies, and lucky Officer Wendy was the winner! We were also fortunate enough to welcome our newest member Crystal to the group! Welcome!
Max, Officer Arlene’s amazing and handsome chihuahua also attended, despite the “Brunchettes only” rule. He’s pretty much become our chapter’s official mascot.
