Brunch in a Galaxy Far, Far Away!

GGB St. Louis does Brunch in a galaxy far, far away!

We may not have been able to travel to Alderaan, Naboo, or Tatooine, but the amazing ladies of GGB StL Metro did get to escape.  In a galaxy not so far, far away GGB StL brunchettes traveled to their own piece of “Germany” in St Louise thanks to Hofbrauhaus St Louis. It was a Star Wars themed brunch and we were prepared!  Witty shirts, hairstyles, costumes, and Star Wars themed accessories made an appearance and our ladies did not disappoint with their enthusiasm.

HofBrauhaus St. Louis

The Hofbrauhaus St. Louis is the largest American branch of the Hofbrauhaus straight from Germany.  They brew their beers in-house and follow the traditional German purity laws, using only barley, yeast, hops, and water all from Munich. It’s set up in the traditional beer hall style that fosters a sense of community, allowing strangers to become friends, features live, traditional German festival music, and has authentic Bavarian food that is straight out of Germany.  A popular item today was the traditional pretzel with beer cheese, the kartoffelpuffer (potato pancakes), geflügelbratwurst (chicken sausage), and the jägerchnitzel (pork cutlet with hunter sauce).  Beers were served in flights, half and full liters and in the traditional steins, and to top it all off, they also had great coffee (which is a MUST at our brunches).

Stein Holding Competition

Not only did we show up to a packed beer hall in Star Wars gear, but a group of our ladies was asked to participate in a Stein Holding competition by the restaurant!  These steins are no joke and weigh a ton empty, but our ladies proved that they had what it takes!  Our very own Emma won and got to take one of the signature steins home as her prize! We were also given the floor and asked to talk about Geek Girl Brunch to everyone at the restaurant and share the GGB story! Yay Geeky ladies!!!

Crafty Ladies

To completely top off everything today, we had a TON of swag for this brunch!  Not only did we have some amazing Star Wars vinyl’s to hand out to everyone, BUT our chapter has some talent when it comes to crafting!  We had a number of donations this brunch that included 12 adorable bowl cozies, a couple of hand-sewn lunch pails, and the cutest little hand sewn Leia and R2D2 this side of Jakku.  We got to raffle off mystery T’s from Threadless to 3 lucky ladies! Lastly, each of our brunchettes got to take home a package of homemade Star Wars chocolates that were super cute!
