GGB DFW Brunch the Musical

This month, the lovely ladies of the DFW area met up for Brunch: The Musical on Sunday, January 8. We had created a passionate thread on the GGB DFW Facebook page where we nerded out over musicals. Our officers decided to turn the idea into the first brunch of the year, at an officer’s house.

The playlist for the day was excellent, of course – a requirement for celebrating the wacky world of musicals. The song selections ranged from Hamilton and Spring Awakening to Cabaret and Sound of Music. Just like with any other form of geekery, we accept all types of fans when it comes to musical lovers. We even had some selections from Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s famous musical episode. Brunchettes shared our experiences listening and seeing our favorite musicals, and of course, we couldn’t help singing along to our favorite tunes!

Chips and dip got us started, and we were absolutely buried in tacos of all kinds; catering this month was from the Taco Joint. We also were treated to tea, lemonade, and mimosas, of course. Brunchettes geared themselves up with t-shirts and paraphernalia from musicals throughout the years.

Our next brunch will be at the Winewood Grill on Sunday, February 12, from 12 to 3pm. We will be celebrating Galentine’s Day (a day devoted to female friendship) through our love of Disney Villainesses this year! All villainesses are welcome, even if they aren’t specifically Disney ones. We will also be doing our fun alternate take on Valentine’s Day through exchange of nerdy valentines and crafting valentine boxes. Feel free to bring your own box, or use one provided on the day! Don’t forget a set of valentines (home-made or store bought are both fine) to exchange with the lovely ladies of Geek Girl Brunch. We’ll see you there!
