GGB Denton had a spectacular Tim Burton Halloween Party at Sweetwater Grill & Tavern October 29th. We had delicious chips, queso, salsa, and enchiladas! We had a costume contest starring local community judges, and raffles full of fun Burton themed goodies! Our event was well attended by those who love all things Tim Burton, including costume representatives of Alice in Wonderland, James and the Giant Peach, and Sweeny Todd, and that was just your officers! Other members went as characters from Nightmare Before Christmas, The Corpse Bride, Big Fish, Frankenweenie, and Beetlejuice.
A fantastic evening with good food, good company, and great costumes. The officers enjoyed seeing everyone parade around and flaunt their creative skills. Please enjoy all the photos and results of the costume contests below.

Brunchette of the Month October: Jenna!
My name is Jenna. I was born in Salt Lake City, but moved to Plano, TX when I was 8 and then to Denton when I was 18 so at this point I am pretty much North Texan all the way. I currently work at UNT in the Arts college, I have a BFA in Drawing and Painting so it’s been great getting to work in a creative environment. I am an artist in every sense of the word and enjoy pretty much anything that can be considered creative.
What was your first geeky interest? I have to say art, when I was little I would draw and make things out of play-doh almost every day.
What are some of your favorite fandoms? Disney and Harry Potter!
Do you cosplay? If so what/who is your favorite? Yes, mostly just for Halloween though. I have done several Disney princesses and am working my way through the characters of Wizard of Oz.
What do you like to do in your free time (hobbies)? I love to create! Currently I am working on a king size quilt commission, I am very excited to see how it turns out!
How did you hear about Geek Girl Brunch Denton? My best friend Samantha and I saw someone post about the Geek Girl DFW Harry Potter brunch, since both of us are mega fans of harry potter we knew we just had to find a way to go. We both joined the DFW chapter and bought our HP brunch tickets right before they sold out and it was love at first brunch! While I was signing up for the DFW chapter I noticed they had a link for a future Denton chapter, so I joined both from day one. As soon as the Denton chapter was live my bestie I started going to brunches, and they have all been awesome!
If you could plan 1 brunch, what would the theme, location, and activities be? Since my main fandoms have already been brunches, I would have to say a Once Upon a Time TV show themed brunch. I think it would be fun to have a scavenger hunt around Storybrooke aka the square.
What else would you like us to know about you? I have my own very small business called jkaye creations. I make and sell handmade custom art and crafts.
This is our beautiful brunchette of the month! Want to nominate a brunchette? Shoot us a message on facebook!
Our next brunch is the Do Better Brunch at More Comics and Games Gaming Center. Please check it out here!
