GGB Philly Heads to the Quidditch World Cup for Septembers Brunch!
Back by popular demand, the brunchettes of Geek Girl Brunch’s Philly chapter headed to Hogwarts for the 2nd annual Harry Potter-themed event, Quidditch World Cup Brunch at The Victoria Freehouse in the Old City neighborhood of Philadelphia. The authentic British pub was extremely welcoming and even decorated for the occasion, giving off all of the Hogsmeade vibes.
This was once again a ticketed event that allowed attendees to choose from a prix fixe brunch menu featuring authentic favorites like “bubbles and squeak” and Cadbury french toast! The Victoria Freehouse also provided delicious (and adorable) house-made pastries for each table and some fantastic Harry Potter decor.
When brunchettes hopped off the Hogwarts Express, they received a goodie bag with a donated planner sticker sheet from Miscellany Boulevard and a house-themed hair bow made by the GGB Philly officers.
The attendees came dressed in their House best, from Hogwarts Student Casual up to full-blown cosplays — including a House Head, proper uniform attire, and some Quidditch players. As usual, the Philly chapter brought their A-game with some very cool outfits!
Brunchettes also enjoyed mingling with their Quidditch rivals and discussing the upcoming Harry Potter festival, an event in Philadelphia’s Chestnut Hill neighborhood happening the weekend of October 21st.
Every Hogwarts House was represented with pride! Ravenclaw was our biggest House for the second year in a row with eleven brunchettes. This year, Gryffindor and Slytheryn were tied seven each, and Hufflepuff had two. Of course, we had to take some House photos together!
And the goodies didn’t stop there! The GGB Philly officers were able to gather some wonderful raffle prizes. Our friends at Fan Mail donated an adorable pocket mirror of erised that was featured in one of their previous subscription boxes.
Other prizes included a Harry Potter Funko Pop figure, a Platform 9 3/4 luggage tag and a handmade “Accio Wine” wine glass! A huge thank you to all of our supporters this month, you helped ensure for a magical brunch!
We each breathed a sigh a relief knowing that no Death Eaters were present at brunch, but we know they may show up at October’s Spooky brunch where things are going to get scary!
