GGB South Florida: Eddie the Eagle Screening

Geek Girl Brunch South Florida had yet another amazing opportunity sent their way from Allied Integrated Marketing, where 25 brunchettes were able to be part of the “fan pit” for the South Beach screening of Hugh Jackman’s newest film, Eddie the Eagle. For those of you not familiar with the premise for the film, it is about Eddie Edwards, the notoriously tenacious British underdog ski jumper who charmed the world at the 1988 Winter Olympics.

Now what is a “fan pit,” you ask? It means we were able to cheer as talent walked the red carpet in front of us while holding some fun homemade signs. Although some signs were provided to us, some of our brunchettes went all out and made some pretty adorable (& hilarious) signs for Hugh that definitely made him laugh. Some of our ladies were even lucky enough to snag a selfie amongst the madness that is a red carpet premiere!

Hugh, Taron Egerton (of Kingsman fame) & director, Dexter Fletcher presented the film to a theater full of excited moviegoers (including our brunchettes) and Hugh even mentioned how much he loves Miami and its sexy vibe! Spoiler alert: Miami loves you right back, Hugh! They also expressed how much fun they had making the film and how special it was that they have gotten to tour the world introducing it to some of their biggest fans. Miami decided to step it up a notch by presenting the cast with hand sewn gifts from a local knitting group, which was really adorable.

The film itself was great, and definitely tugs at your heartstrings. It’s one to take the whole family to, so check it out if you are looking for a fun family movie to watch this weekend!
