GGB Cleveland Launch – Rep Your Favorite TV Show

GGB Cleveland Launch – Rep Your Favorite TV Show

On February 21st, the Cleveland chapter of Geek Girl Brunch launched! Since we had garnered lots of diverse members via word of mouth and social media, we kept the theme broad yet interesting. All twenty-one brunchettes did “Rep Your Favorite TV Show” – Doctor Who and Game of Thrones were heavily represented with shirts and accessories. There were a few anime and the Simpsons fans, too! Pacos Tacos in Solon (an eastern suburb of Cleveland) graciously hosted our large group for three and a half hours. The cocktails, tacos, and guacamole were well received by our brunchettes!

For our icebreaker, we played Two Truths and a Lie. We have very observant members – many decided to lie about their Hogwarts House affiliation, and others correctly guessed their lies! Afterwards, we raffled off a few television themed items: a Doctor Who backpack and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic socks. One of our brunchettes, Jill, was incredibly generous, she brought her unwanted subscription box items and donated them to our swag supplies! These items will be raffled off at future brunches, and they include Pop figurines, geeky jewelry, and candy.

Our first brunch was a massive success! Many girls said that this was needed in Cleveland, since there is a big geeky population here. We talked about the upcoming Cleveland Comic Con, since a few girls were planning to go. We also bonded over our pets at home, and shared tips on how to play Neko Atsume. Many thanks to Pacos Tacos and our servers, Evan and Carrington. They were attentive and accommodated our need for 21 separate checks. We will definitely visit Pacos Tacos for future events, and we highly recommend them to Clevelanders.

Our next brunch is planned for March 19th, and our theme will be Heroes vs. Villains! The location has not been confirmed yet, but we hope it will be on the west side of Cleveland. Many girls at our brunch were excited to hear about our comic book theme, and some even plan to cosplay. To find out more about our next brunch, please go to our chapter page and follow us on social media!
