GGB St. Louis Metro: Never Be Board!

GGB St. Louis Metro: Never Be Board!

On January 17th, the ladies of the Geek Girl Brunch St. Louis Metro chapter got together for their event “Never Be Board”! Back in October at our “1.21 Gigawatt Get Together” event, we had a little raffle to win the chance to pick our January theme and our winner was Tiffany, who is a huge fan of board games.

Never Be Board

We met at a little coffee shop called The Coffee House for drinks and a light meal. Several of the ladies brought some of their favorite (and most portable) games to share.

After ordering many varieties of coffee and pastries, we settled down to a team version of everyone’s new favorite, Exploding Kittens. And, of course, we played the inappropriate version! It is really hard to keep a straight face and try not to burst out laughing when there is a picture of a cartoon man jumping out of a plane with a pair of large breasts as his wings…!

Never Be Board

After a lengthy game, and only one team out after “exploding,” we decided to try another game, one which many of us had never played before, Takenoko. In this game, there are three different goal categories, five actions to take during each turn, and one adorable bamboo eating panda! This game was brought by Tiffany who was introduced to it at a friend’s house. And while there, before even finishing playing her first time around, decided to buy it off of Amazon because she liked it so much!

Many of us were also introduced to a game for your phone “Evil Apples.” Just imagine if Apples to Apples and Cards Against Humanity had a little dirty minded baby! We immediately downloaded the game and started playing against each other!

Our swag was volunteered by two of our resident perler brunchettes and featured neon colored, 6-sided, regulation dice and lots of matching neon meeples!
