GGB Austin – Galentine’s Day
On Feb. 7th, the Austin chapter of Geek Girl Brunch celebrated “Galentine’s Day”!! For those of you who are unaware, Galentine’s Day was created by Leslie Knope, from Parks and Rec. Traditionally Galentine’s Day is celebrated on February 13th, but us Geek Girl BrunchersĀ in Austin couldn’t wait to celebrate!Ā And what better way is there, than with some southern comfort food? But not just any comfort food,Ā The Peached TortillaĀ serves up good ol’ southern cooking with an Asian flare.Ā The food was super delicious and the staff very accommodating to our unorthodoxĀ celebration.
The food wasn’t as yummy as theses handmade waffle necklaces! GGB Officer Megan was kind enough to makeĀ these delectable creations. Thanks to her mad crafting skills,Ā everyĀ brunchette went home with a one of a kind bling, each with a different topping. I’m sure Leslie Knope would approve! Galentine’s day also wouldn’t be complete without chocolates and candy hearts. A specialĀ thanks to GGB Sandra for adding these little treats to be table.Ā A few of the brunchettes even brought flowers and adorableĀ cards to share as well!
All in all we had a great brunch! We talked about what shows we’ve been watching, ex. The 100, Shadowhunters, and Supergirl. It seemed like most of the ladies were planningĀ to see Deadpool the followingĀ week, in celebration of Valentine’s Day. Everyone also seemed excited for the upcoming Renaissance Faire. Since the weather is warming up, there was talk of hosting future meetings outdoors,Ā and we can’t forget about SXSW coming up! Thanks to everyone who came out to the brunch! The GGB Officers are still planning March’s brunch, so keep and eye out for invites and details on our FB page. We’re still on the lookout for a fifthĀ GGB Officer to join our noble ranks!
