GGB Austin – Coloring Party
On a surprisingly warm January day, the Austin chapter of Geek Girl Brunch met up for a “Coloring Party”! We decided that a causal, local coffee shop would be the perfect spot to hang out for a few hours. Luckily, Genuine Joe’s Coffeehouse has meeting rooms that you can reserve! So, with coffee’s and pastry’s in hand, we began the fifth GGB Austin meetup.
Many of our brunchettes brought there own coloring books and pencils to the meetup. It was fun to see all the many different “adult” coloring books that are available. It was great to flip through the books and see the lovely art in each one. The themes ranged from fantasy, historical romance, and just plain ol’ whimsical. GGB officers Megan and Mia also brought individual pages for everyone to enjoy. The artwork created by illustrator, Karen Hallion, was especially a hit.
Here’s one of our bruncher’s displaying Mrs. Hallion’s work. Next is a group shot of everyone’s coloring pages. We have some very talented ladies in our group! As we colored we talked about a wide range of topics, such as the upcoming Suicide Squad and Deadpool movies. We also discussed fun things to do in the future for a group outing, like check out one of Austin’s puzzle rooms, or go play some chicken shit bingo!
We were lucky to have a copy of “Lost Ocean” by Johanna Basford to giveaway, thanks to Penguin Random House. Â In all, our GGB “Coloring Party”
was a big hit, and as usual everyone seemed to have had a great time. Next month we’re having a sit down brunch, and celebrating “Galentine’s Day”! Invites have been sent out, and we hope to see everyone there!
