Geek Girl Brunch DFW Galentine’s Day & Favorite Heroines
The Dallas/Fort Worth area brunchettes met up on February 7th to celebrate Galentine’s Day in honor of our favorite heroines of all genres. This was the perfect opportunity to show off our diverse fandoms, including everything from Agent Carter, Meiling Li of Cardcaptors, and Rogue, to bombshell Harley Quinn, Chibiusa of Sailor Moon, and Rey of Star Wars.
When we arrived at Via Real, we were each given Wonder Woman-style headbands to wear, as well as heart-shaped Geek Girl Brunch magnets made by our very own Tiff. We drank copious mimosas and coffee and enjoyed the delicious Mexican brunch buffet.
The most delightful part of the brunch was the old-school Valentine’s Day card exchange. Some brunchettes brought creatively decorated Valentine’s boxes; for those of us who were less prepared and/or artistic, we were given paper bags to decorate with paper and stickers when we arrived. When our bags were all assembled, we circulated around the room and distributed valentines to everyone. Some of the ladies outdid themselves with gorgeous handmade cards and original drawings of Simpsons and Bob’s Burgers characters! Toward the end of the brunch, the officers auctioned off some prizes donated by the DFW officers: a set of items from Espionage Cosmetics, a Catwoman figurine and bag, and a Tomorrowland figurine.
We look forward to reuniting on March 13 at The Social House in Dallas for our Whedonverse Brunch – calling all Browncoats, Scoobies, Dr. Horrible’s Singers, Marvel Zombies, and Whedonites of every kind!
