GGB Pittsburgh Star Wars: The Force Awakens Brunch!
The force is incredibly strong in the Burgh, and our Brunchettes showed up to prove it in December when we hit up an early morning viewing of Star Wars: The Force Awakens at the Cinemark in the North Hills and then walked to the Panera in the same plaza, who were good enough to let GGB use their community room for all our holiday Star Wars brunch needs! We talked about the movie, our theories (so many!), episodes one through six, and the extended universe all while making amazing Star Wars-themed snowflakes and enjoying Star Wars goodiess, like delicious lollipops from Vintage Confections, donated by Brunchette Kat, and lightsaber pretzels from our very own Pittsburgh Sweet Relief Bakery!
We were excited to welcome new members and returning members alike to our third brunch as a chapter, and we had so many things to say about Star Wars, which clearly was a common thread of interest of everyone in the group. As an extra treat for our wonderful ladies, we handed out absolutely amazing Star Wars charms, which included Yoda, R2D2, and the Death Star in the shape of a heart and were hand crafted by Sierra at DollyDevised. We also gave more goodies from Sweet Relief in the form of Chewbacca and C-3PO salt dough ornaments, to help our Brunchettes decorate for the holidays in style!
Continuing this Holiday spirit, we conducted a Secret Bantha exchange between Brunchettes. Everyone was excited to give and receive geeky and thoughtful presents from their fellow Brunchettes! We also raffled off a giant table of geeky goodies from local businesses such as Phantom of the Attic in Monroeville. Every Brunchette walked away with a pile of fun stuff, a great experience seeing the next chapter of Star Wars, and a ton of new questions and plans for a second/third/fourth viewing. It was a fun-filled afternoon that warmed up a chilly December day!
In January, the Pittsburgh GGB Brunchettes will be celebrating the return of one of the best TV shows of all time with our X-Files-themed The Truth is Out There Brunch… because we want to believe.
As always, thank you to GGB HQ, the Burgh Brunchettes, and the amazingly wonderful and force-sensitive city of Pittsburgh for all the love and support! Happy New Year!
