Sweet Apple Acres Brunch – Indianapolis Chapter
On Saturday, October 17, the Indianapolis chapter of Geek Girl Brunch met at Beasley’s Orchard in Brownsburg, Indiana for what we called the Sweet Apple Acres brunch!
It was the height of fall activity. It was the falliest fall that ever falled.
The chilly temperatures provided convenient excuses for us to indulge in hot apple cider and fresh caramel apple dumplings.
We took a hay ride out to the pumpkin patch where our trusty guide, Samantha, educated us about the flora and fauna of the area. There were burrs and brrrs, but warm smiles to balance both.
Did we have fun? In a word, from our patron pony Big Macintosh, “Yyyuup.”
We met new friends from as far as Bloomington, engaged in a highly intellectual discussion regarding the Paul Anka swing album, and reveled in the merits of sugar free pumpkin butter.
We ate directly from trees, wandered through an old-fashioned store (purchasing many jarred wonders, sinful baked goods and bygone candies) and shared stories of our great geekdom. In other words, we laughed, we cried, we borrowed mittens and somehow got to quoting The Big Lebowski.
What’s Next?
Our next brunch – which is tentatively Harry Potter themed – will be scheduled for December. We hope you can join us!
