GGB Pittsburgh Inaugural Brunch
After so much planning and excitement, the Pittsburgh Chapter had our inaugural Villains themed brunch this past Saturday, October 10th, at The Yard in Shadyside off of Walnut. We had a wonderful crew of ladies show up, and brunch lasted three awesome hours!
The Yard had an great brunch menu that included chicken and waffles, a huge selection of grilled cheeses, and bottomless mimosas and Bloody Mary bar. The service was amazing, and the staff was incredibly accommodating. They even let officers Lis, Laura, and Jocelyn in early to begin setting up before the restaurant even opened.
Brunchettes showed up looking amazing in their geeky best and villain-themed outfits. They enjoyed talking about books, movies, Dr. Who, Star Wars, and their favorite villains (of course) until early afternoon. Dessert were gourmet cupcakes provided by local Sweet Relief Bakery. They tasted as beautiful as they looked.
Our swag bags were stuffed with candy (it’s almost Halloween!!), prints of original artwork from local artist Andy Ellis of villainesses Poison Ivy and Cat Woman, postcards from Pittsburgh comic book shop Eides, and goodies from the Phantom of the Attic comic book shop in Monroeville. Working with local vendors is something we really believe in, and the wonderful response we have received from our local community has been wonderfully overwhelming.
We could not have asked for a better first brunch to kick off the Pittsburgh chapter. The Brunchettes were all smiles and full of great ideas to make our events even better. We left with new friends and even more excitement for next month’s brunch. Thank you to HQ, thank you to our Brunchettes, and thank you to the Steel City! We always knew the geek strain was strong here 🙂
