GGB Denver – DisneyBound Brunch!

The first Geek Girl Brunch held in Denver was an amazing success! Our first theme was DisneyBounding (since everyone has a favorite Disney character), and we had a great turnout, with over a dozen girls attending!

We chose Rialto’s, a cafe on the 16th Street Mall in Downtown Denver, which not only had a pastry and fruit bar, but DIY Mimosa and Bloody Mary stations as well! We had so many great closet cosplays of Snow White, Pocahontas, Yzma (from Emperor’s New Groove), the Red Queen, Belle, and more. After a round of icebreakers including questions like “Which Weasley would you date?”, “What would your fictional mode of transport be?” and “Where is Waldo, really?”, everyone settled into a delicious brunch.

After a few mimosas, it was time for Disney trivia! We kept count with bottlecaps (pretending they were Ellie’s Grape Soda pins from Up), and had to come up with tiebreakers to determine our four winners. (The hardest question turned out to be “What pub did Flynn take Rapunzel to in Tangled?” Do you know? Find the answer at the bottom!)

Every winner went home with a custom Disney mug created by one of the chapter officers with quotes from movies like: Mulan (“Dishonor on: You, Your Family, Your Cow”), Big Hero 6 (“Hello, I am Baymax, your personal caffeine provider”), Alice in Wonderland (“Drink Me”), and Beauty and the Beast (“Tale as old as Time”).
