Welcome to the Corvallis, OR Chapter Page!
Meet the Officers
Growing up in Cleveland, Amanda felt like the only girl on the playground who loved Star Wars. This worked out in her favor because she could always be Leia. Her love of ladies who kick butt only got stronger through the years as she watched Xena and The X-Files (her first online fandom back in the dark days of dial-up), among so many others. With every new fandom, she would go into serious research mode and still does to this day. Books were a constant companion in addition to the movies and TV series that she loved, and ultimately led her to the library field. In addition to her MLIS, she also has a BA in French and still speaks it semi-fluently. She has a brain full of semi-useless trivia that continues to be filled by podcasts like My Favorite Murder, Oh No Ross and Carrie, and The Dork Forest (which she appeared on to talk about The X-Files, nbd). In her free time, she enjoys writing both original fiction and fanfic, embroidery, crochet, reading whatever takes her fancy, and posting a ton of pictures to Instagram. She and her co-officer, Pamela run an Etsy shop called Briarwylde where they create lovely and creepy accessories.
Geeky Loves: The X-Files, Star Wars, Dragon Age, Studio Ghibli, podcasts, and books, so many books.
Brunch Drink: She’ll try anything, but she’s a whiskey girl at heart.
A former Texan, Pamela has now comfortably settled in Oregon with her husband, daughter, and dog. She cut her teeth on Star Wars and Star Trek, and started reading science fiction and fantasy as soon as she could get her hands on the books. She has a Masters in English, but she discovered that she hated teaching in grad school. She’s currently a freelance writer/editor and blogger (and is totally available to hire, btw), and she dabbles in fiction writing when the inspiration strikes. Current hobbies include embroidery, cross stitching, knitting, being obsessed with her planner and bullet journal, playing video games and board games, and sharing a kajillion pics of her daughter on Instagram. She’s also starting up a blog to follow the family’s adventures in their tiny red camper. Oh, and she makes jewelry with her co-officer and sells it on Briarwylde at Etsy.
Geeky Loves: Star Wars, Dragon Age, The Witcher 3, Avatar the Last Airbender, Studio Ghibli, Guillermo del Toro, and a whole lot of other stuff that she can’t remember right now.
Brunch Drink: Hot tea. *sad trombone*
