The Baton Rouge Officers:

Origin Story: Raised on old-school Apogee games such as Commander Keen, Crystal Caves, Major Stryker, and Secret Agent, Katrena became a PC gamer at the young age of five. When she got a little bit older, she was exposed to Star Wars, Star Trek, Indiana Jones, and The Twilight Zone. In her early teens, she became interested in other games, including The Sims, Half-Life, Counter-Strike Source, and even the occasional W.O.W. Her obsessions also involved reading across several genres, including horror, science fiction, westerns, and graphic novels. Her day job is being an attorney, but in her free time she loves to game, read, run, bake, craft, and go on road-trips with her childhood sweetheart, Sky, and their cat, Francis.

Geeky Top Ten: Stephen King, Fallout 3/New Vegas, Skyrim, Miyazaki films, food puns, The Twilight Zone, Supernatural, cats, The X-Files, Resident Evil.

Current Obsessions: Knitting, shopping for vintage/retro-inspired clothing, playing Fallout New Vegas on her Xbox 360 (one day she will upgrade), hanging out with her cat.

Brunch Drink: Mimosas…because she loves champagne.

Fictional Love Interest: Roland from The Dark Tower

Resident mermaid movie buff.
Origin Story: It all started with Star Trek the original series re-runs. Roxanne would come home from daycare, and turn the show on at the tender age of four years old. The next obsession was with a teenage mutant ninja turtle action figure. Leonardo to be exact. Yes, he and the little mermaid, Ariel, swam off into the sunset. Saturday cartoons took hold, especially the X-men animated series, and books came after, fifth grade R. L. Stein novels ring a bell anyone? Escaping into fantasy worlds were like second nature to Roxanne. Film especially helped open the portals to Wonderland, an animated Middle-earth, and a dark, artistic Gotham.  In high school, she took a film appreciation class and another dimension was added to the depth found in film. The fandoms she ascribed to grew from there. Newly transplanted to Baton Rouge, she enjoys being a wife and corgi-mom!

Geeky Top Ten:  Disney, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Once Upon a Time, Star Trek, X-men, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Luc Besson Films, the SyFy channel’s reimagining of classic literature stories, and Thor.

Current ObsessionsTorrid Disney dresses, Marvel Cinematic Universe, CCs Coffee, movie trivia, corgis, Baz Lurhman Films

Fictional love interestJason Mamoa’s Aquaman

Origin Story: Jessica was raised to embrace her inner weird; parents who allowed her to dress herself was probably a mistake. She wore a fur hat in the middle of summer on a boat. She embraces all colors and finds it hard to wear just one. Her first obsession came in the form of Nightmares. She first saw Freddy at a sleepover and her love of campy horror was born. A love of Back to the Future, Aliens, and Jurassic Park followed quickly. When Jessica started dating her now husband, Matthew, he introduced her to his geekiness that she took to like a fish does to water. He introduced her to a world of board games, Sci Fi, and bad Kung Fu she didn’t even know existed. Their bridal shower was Nerd vs. Geek. She loves to talk about all things she’s passionate about, so mention quilting, crafting, cooking, board gaming, or wine and she’ll have countless words to share.

Geeky Top Ten: Nightmare on Elm Street, Battlestar Galactica, HP Lovecraft, Eldrich Horror, Harry Potter, Aliens, Kingdom Death, Futurama, Jane Austen, Firefly.

Current Obsessions: Grimm, Kingdom Death, making homemade pho, expanding her fabric stash, trying on every mask she comes across, and having bad movie night.

Brunch Drink: Mimosas that are mainly champagne with a splash of orange juice.

Fictional Love Interest: Professor Snape. He strikes me of a man who likes to have a glass of dark meaty red wine.
