Geek Girl Brunch Gainesville’s Game Night 1.0

Geek Girl Brunch Gainesville’s Game Night 1.0

Gainesville’s June Meet Up

In lieu of a traditional brunch, GGB Gainesville decided to have a board game night for the June meet up. Brunchette Megan M. was generous enough to host everyone at her home.

There were drinks, snacks, and many, many games. We ended up playing Codenames and Smash Up.

We had to try the hard seltzer with a Hawaiian shirt wearing dinosaur on it!

With Codenames, two teams compete by each having a “spymaster” give one-word clues that can point to multiple words on the board. The other players on the team attempt to guess their team’s words while avoiding the words of the other team. Smash Up is a shufflebuilding game. Players draft two faction decks, such as pirates, ninja, robots, zombies, and more, and combine them. Each combination gives a different experience (Pirate-Aliens play very different than Pirate-Zombies), and with 8 factions in the base set there are 64 combinations to try out!

The Megans playing Smash Up

This was the first weeknight venture for GGB Gainesville. We plan on having more “non-brunch” meet ups in the future.

Stay strong geek girls! We are in this together!
