Welcome to December Brunchettes!

Down the rabbit hole we went to the Sugar Magnolia Cafe in Wake Forest for a delightfully mad brunch and tea party in their Old English Tea Room. Charming is a great descriptor of both the location and our magical costumes. We were all dolled up in our favorite Alice in Wonderland inspired attire: we had Alices, Queens, a Mad Hatter, and a few White Rabbits. In our costumes we enjoyed a whimsical mirage of tasty cakes, cuisine and cocktails.

Because I enjoy food so much, our specific food list entailed:
An organic green salad and homemade dressing, a pot of organic tea, iced tea or lemonade, three different kinds of sandwiches, a variety of breads and desserts such as brioche style cinnamon buns, scones, brownies, lemon cakes, cheesecakes, muffins, and other small desserts.

In addition to all the lovely food, as part of our GGB Do Better initiative we collected donations for Interact’s food pantry during the Alice in Wonderland Brunch. We had a generous number of donations. Thank you to all who participated!

In addition to the food, costumes, and donations, this brunch included a raffle, costume contest, a very UnBirthday sing off, and a team challenge riddle (Why is a raven like a writing-desk?). What a wonderful end to a wonderful year!

What is next?

Starting on the first of January choose to be your own hero! Entry has closed but you can unofficially join us on our quest to achieve our goals. Our challenges are as follows:

Battle for Hogwarts
This is a team challenge. Join your house mates in an ultimate battle. The team with most calories burned during the month of January will gain control of Hogwarts.

Respawn
This a self-care challenge. For at least 30 mins per day, take a little time out of your day to respawn.

Atlanna Rising – Hydration Challenge
Water is life. Drink up!

Livelong and Step On!
This is a step challenge. The goal is to take at least 6,000 steps per day.

Where are we brunching next?

Join us on January 19th at Humble Pie as we enjoy some brunch and solve a murder! Whodunnit? We aren’t sure but you need to help us find out. Wear your favorite 20s outfit. Or why not try to Steampunk it or give that outfit a modern twist?! We are taking this back 100 years to the 1920’s as we ring in the 2020’s!!

We’re All Mad Here!

The Cheshire Cat says this to Alice in one of the most concise descriptions of the strange world down the rabbit hole. Unlike the world Alice left behind, “mad” isn’t necessarily a bad thing. At each GeekGirlBrunch, we embrace a side of every member that is quirky and unpredictable, and maybe when we all go back to our real worlds, everyone will take that joy and fun with them. Signing off with our last post of 2019! Stay mad!
