Houston Chapter Attends Advance Screening of ‘Late Night’

Houston Chapter, Geek Girl Brunch

On June 6, 2019, a group of eight Houston Brunchettes filed into a theatre at Regal Edwards Greenway Grand Palace ScreenX & RPX to attend a free advance screening of the new film Late Night. Mindy Kaling wrote and produced the movie; she and Emma Thompson star in the film about an aging late night host trying to reconnect with her audience, with whom she is increasingly out of touch.

Fons PR group offered this opportunity. In general, the movie went over well. As we exited, a representative asked our opinions and recorded them to give to the studio. The most critical comments involved the development of the relationships of the characters at times felt rushed and the question of what happened to the character who disappeared. The audience enjoyed the trash can scene, and the scathing insults, as well as the moments of forgiveness and redemption towards the resolution.

After the movie, the group of Brunchettes chatted about fandoms and upcoming local events, and posed for a photo.

Thank you to all who attended, and on relatively short notice!
We enjoyed ourselves, and we hope you did, too. For more information about the next event, please watch the Facebook group. We can’t wait to see you again.
