GGB NYC: Harry Potter Birthday Brunch

GGB NYC: Harry Potter Birthday Brunch

On July 31st, the NYC chapter hosted one of our largest brunches to date – a Harry Potter Birthday Brunch Bash! We met at New York City’s number one bottomless brunch venue, Poco. As always our resident artist, Monique Steele created the best birthday invitation.

House prefects – NYC officers – welcomed brunchettes to Hogwarts Great Hall and made sure they were sorted into the correct houses. Personalized gift bags were waiting for each brunchettes! The gift bag included a discount code to Fanmail Box (our newest obession), house bows, Dementor’s Kiss-Away and wands. Of course, as the wand chooses the witch no two wands were alike!

This was a lively brunch! Everyone was discussing the new Cursed Child script and the Ilvermony houses. There might have been a little bit of rivalry going on between the Houses but it was all in good fun. And just like it should be each House supported the other during the raffle.

Our raffle was amazing. Jordan Dene very kindly donated Hogwarts House make-up bags. Perfect to carry your wands in. Chavon from Geeky and Creepy donated a Harry Potter gift bag! It was filled with Funkos, coloring books, tote bags, and all the Harry Potter items you could’ve wished for. And finally an Ashley Bridget Snitch bracelet was donated as well. Who caught the snitch? Why our very own founder, Rachel!

Once the raffle was finished it was time to mingle and discuss fashion. Brunchettes showed up in their Hogwarts best, repping their house pride and swapping accessory details. We had two Marauder Map dresses, so many house cardigans and even more amazing outfits that we need to buy. We even had our Geek Girl of the Month, Robyn of Geek Girl Strong, cosplaying Hermione!

After three hours of bottomless mimosas it was time to leave the Great Hall. We said our end of year thank yous and heading off to Platform 9 ¾. But before we ran thru the wall…we decided to go hunt some Pokemon. And with that we all headed home with many more pokemon than we started with that morning and promising each other that we would all meet up again at Fan Girl’s Night Out on October 8th.
